Shop opening hours
Permanently established shops selling consumer goods are in general prohibited from opening on Sundays and public holidays. This County Governor may grant exemptions from this general rule. You should address any application for an exemption directly to the County Governor.
When dealing with applications for Sunday and public-holiday opening, importance will be attached to the interests of the employees. Accordingly you must document the existence of mutual employee/employer regarding Sunday and public-holiday opening. The County Governor will seek opinions from a range of parties. Accordingly you should submit your application for an exemption at least one to two months before the relevant date.
A municipality may apply to the County Governor for a declaration that a particular area should be considered a regular tourist destination for all or parts of the year. Such areas are exempt from the statutory restrictions on shop opening hours on Sundays and public holidays.
